I have been using Sibelius professional version 5.1 for many years now, and have a large collection of .sib files that I would like to access. My old laptop internal HDD has failed. Fortunately, all my .sib files were saved on an external HDD, and are accessible top my new Windows 10 laptop. I still have the Sibelius 5.0 and 5.1 discs, and serial number starting SCEP 500 followed by 12 numbers. Please advise how I can load this onto my new Windows 10 laptop.

To load Sibelius 5.1 onto your new Windows 10 laptop, you can follow these steps:
Insert the Sibelius 5.1 disc into your laptop's CD/DVD drive.
Open the disc and run the setup/installation file.
Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation of Sibelius 5.1 on your new Windows 10 laptop.
Once the installation is finished, you can launch Sibelius 5.1.
To access your .sib files, connect your external HDD to the new laptop and browse for the files within Sibelius.
You can open, edit, and work with your .sib files as you did on your old laptop.
Remember to use your Sibelius 5.1 serial number starting SCEP 500 followed by 12 numbers when prompted during the installation process.
I am hoping to download or obtain the CD-ROM disc for Sibelius 5.1. I have an account with Sibelius, but can't find this on the Avid Web site. Any suggestions?

Sibelius 5.1 is not available anymore, but you have the possibility to download the 8.5 version which is considered to be the latest one on the market.
Depending on your operating system, here are the download links for both Mac and Windows:
If you have iMesh and iLivid products, Kaspersky Internet Security, Avast Antivirus, AVG Antivirus, Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro, Google Desktop or PGP Desktop installed on your computer, update it and reboot the PC. If this doesn't fix the problem, update your Sibelius product. Also, run the Sibelius Compatibility Tool, click the Fix Now button and restart the computer after the process is completed.
In order to type Latvian characters you need to find the right fonts or add a keyboard input mode from the Regional Settings found in Control Panel of your computer.
You can use the font you like with the new Sibelius version, but in order to do that you need to place the fonts in the following folder: /Users/[your username]/Library/Fonts. ([your username] is the local username of your computer).
I'm using Sibelius 3. How do I group together a set of instruments (for example the recorders and the flutes) when I create a score? It seems to be random.

In order to group together a set of instruments, open the application and navigate to Window > Parts > New Part. In the left pane you will have all the available instruments from your score. You can select them and then move them to the right pane. Once you finish, click OK. The grouped set of instruments will appear in the list of parts. If you have issues, I suggest you contact Sibelius Support team.
